Mixer Drums

The name L&T is synonymous with good quality in the concrete mixer drum industry.  L&T mixer drum is both a wet and dry mixer, complying to DIN459, DIN 1045, AS 1379 and the North American Ready-mix Concrete Association norms.  In true fashion, it is the only mixer drum company outside of Germany to be awarded the prestigious German GS (Geprufte Sicherheit) award.

 L&T Mixer Drums in Singapore

Key Benefits in L&T Mixer Drums

OK Gearboxes.  L&T uses OK gearboxes which are dimensionally interchangeable with Sauer HPM51 and with ZF 3300, 4300 and 5300.  In addition, our gearboxes are of better performance than most of our competitions.  For example, while most drum manufacturers use the ZF 3300 gearbox for 7 m3 drum (ZF 3300 has a torque of 42,000 NM), we use the OK 6000 gearbox for a similar drum (OK 6000 has a torque of 58,000 NM).
Durostat Anti-wear Resistance Steel.  While other drum manufacturers use the high tensile steel like the St 52.2 grade, we use the Durostat anti-wear resistance steel which is not just high tensile, it is also wear resistant.

Facts You Should Know About Regarding L&T

1.    Who is L&T?

L&T is a concrete mixer manufacturer in Italy.  They produce an average of 2000 units of mixer drums per year, making them one of the largest drum manufacturers in the world.

2.    Who owns L&T in Singapore?

Many ready-mixed companies.  There are about 200 units of L&T mixer drums in operation here in Singapore since 1993.

3.    If my present L&T mixer drum is mounted on a Nissan chassis, can I remount it on a Hino or a Mitsubishi chassis without any hot work?

Yes you can.  Unlike most of our competitors in which the drum sub-frame and the hydraulic pump are welded, ours are bolted on.  This gives us the flexibility to change either the frame width to suit any chassis width and also the flexibility to relocate the pump position to suit the flywheel PTO position.  Remounting takes less than a day.

4.    Can the drum shell  and blades last longer than others?

Yes they can.  While others are using high tensile steel, L&T is using high tensile and high wear resistance steel with high manganese content.  Our high tensile steel has a strength of 69 kg/mm2.  Most of the competitions are using ST52-2 steel with a strength of 50 kg/mm2.

5.    Can it carry more concrete than others?

Yes it can.  By using high wear resistance steel we can reduce the thickness of the drum and yet last longer than others.  The reduction in thickness means our drums are lighter than most, and as such allow a higher carrying capacity without the fear of overloading.

In spite of its thinner profile, our drum is designed to last 4-5 years for the blades and 8 years for the drum.  This assumption is based on carrying an average of 8,000 cu metre of concrete a year.

6.    Are L&T drums designed to meet any specific world standard?

Yes.  Our drum meets the German standard under DIN 459, DIN 1045 and AS 1379.  One of the requirement under this standard is that the drum must be able to carry water at an inclined gradient of 10o without spilling.  The amount of water carried is equivalent to the amount of concrete specified in its carrying capacity.
